Preventive Care
Regular preventive care is the key to good health. All three Children’s medical plan options pay 100% for in-network preventive care based on age, gender and medical history. Here is how to get the most from your preventive care benefits.
Know what is covered
In general, preventive care includes the following services for you and your covered dependents:
- Annual wellness exams.
- Immunizations.
- Cancer screenings.
- Cholesterol checks.
- Blood pressure readings.
For more information, see Preventive Care Guidelines under Resources at the left. For more detailed information, see Preventive Care under Fast Clicks at the left.
Check with your doctor
Confirm with your doctor’s office that coverage for service has been verified with UnitedHealthcare and that the claim will be filed as “preventive.” Then make sure to review the claim when you receive an explanation of benefits.
Get a free flu shot
Children’s helps you fight the flu by offering free, onsite flu shots each fall. Watch the Daily Briefing for details.
Take a Health Assessment
Be aware of any health risks and track your progress toward better health by completing an online Health Assessment. If you are enrolled in one of Children’s medical plan options, go to the UnitedHealthcare site (see Contacts at the left). The online Health Assessment from Healthyroads (see Contacts at the left) is available to any Children's employee. These confidential assessments identify your health risks and strengths and put you on the track to better health. See the LiveWell section for more information on our full range of wellness programs.
