Healthy Pregnancy Program
Whether this is your first baby or you are expanding your family, pregnancy can be an exciting and confusing time full of questions and concerns. If you are enrolled in a Children’s medical plan option, UnitedHealthcare is there to provide great support through the Healthy Pregnancy Program. Visit the UnitedHealthcare Healthy Pregnancy Program website for more details (see Contacts at the left).
The program includes:
- 24-hour toll-free access to experienced pregnancy and childbirth nurses to ask questions or talk over your concerns, before and after delivery.
- Access to healthcare professionals to identify any risks and special needs.
- Pregnancy and childbirth education materials and resources including proper nutrition, preparing for childbirth, exercising during pregnancy, warning signs and things to avoid.
- One-on-one support throughout your pregnancy.
- Access to a neonatal nurse manager for babies with special health needs.
- Welcome kit with free products.
You must call to sign up for the Healthy Pregnancy Program. To join, call UnitedHealthcare toll-free (see Contacts at the left) from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. CST, Monday through Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. CST on Friday, and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST on Saturday. This program is provided by Children’s at no cost to you.
Special Maternity Dental Benefits
If you are enrolled in the UnitedHealthcare Dental PPO plan option, the plan will pay the full cost of certain dental care during your second and third trimesters of pregnancy at no additional cost to you. The additional covered services include fees and expenses for cleanings, deep scaling (cleaning deeper down the tooth), debridement (removing dead or infected gum tissue) and periodontal maintenance (if your dentist indicates that you require these services, and includes your due date and obstetrician’s name on your claim form). This benefit also applies to your spouse or domestic partner who is covered under the UnitedHealthcare Dental PPO plan option.
Taking care of your teeth and gums during pregnancy is important for your baby’s health as well as your own. Gum disease during pregnancy can increase your risk for pre-term delivery, which increases the risk of neonatal problems and life-long disabilities.
