DART

Annual DART Passes, which are subsidized by Children’s Medical Center, are available, while supplies last, for employees at the cashier’s window located on the first floor of the main hospital.   DART offers three passes, each with a different set of riding privileges.

Pass types and pricing are as follows:

Local pass- $62

Red, Blue, Green and Orange line trains – Local Buses – Not valid on Paratransit

System pass- $96

All DART buses (local and express) and trains - Trinity Railway Express trains between Union Station and CentrePort/DFW Airport Station - Not valid on Paratransit

Regional pass- $115

All DART buses (local and Express) and trains – All Trinity Railway Express service, the T in Fort Worth, and the Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) A-Train - Not valid on Paratransit

DART requires that you be a Children’s employee to purchase a DART pass. DART passes must be paid for through a pre-tax payroll deduction. This one-time pre-tax payroll deduction will be taken from the paycheck issued following the purchase of your pass.

Once you have ordered your pass, the cashier will give you an authorization form and blank DART pass. In order to begin riding DART with your pass, you will need to take the authorization form and blank DART pass to the DART Store at the Akard Station (1401 Pacific) to have your photo taken and placed on the pass.  Photo IDs are made at the DART Store between 9-11a.m. and 2-4p.m.  For more information on the DART Store, please call DART at 214-749-3281

Pre-tax deductions are taken from your pay before federal, Social Security, and Medicare taxes are calculated. As a result, your taxable income is reduced, and consequently, taxable income reflected on your annual W-2 statement is reduced.

The subsidy that Children’s provides for the cost of the passes is not considered taxable to an employee unless an employee terminates employment. Employees who purchase a pass and terminate employment will have “imputed income” included in their final paycheck. Imputed income is the addition of non-cash compensation to an employee’s taxable wages in order to properly withhold income taxes from wages. The amount of imputed income will be prorated based upon the purchase price of the pass and the remaining months in the year.
