Military Leave

How It Works

The Children’s Military Leave Policy covers all the privileges and rights under the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994 (USERRA) for employees who perform military service either on a voluntary or involuntary basis. The focus of this section is to address only the provisions of the policy pertaining to salary and benefit continuance during times of active duty. See the Military Leave Policy under HR Benefit Policies at the left for more details.

The Children’s Military Leave Policy goes beyond the requirements of USERRA to provide a military pay supplement if you are called to active duty or training in the armed forces. If your military pay is less than your base pay from Children’s when you are ordered to active duty or training, Children’s will supplement the difference between your military pay and your base pay rate, beginning after your first two weeks of active duty. If you have PTO hours accrued, you may choose to use PTO for the first 14 days of Military Leave.

In addition, you may continue to cover yourself and your family at the same premiums/rates for the Children’s benefit plans while you are on Military Leave. Some benefit limitations may apply per the individual Summary Plan Descriptions.
